This post (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showpost.php?p=243078&postcount=64) has a broken link. I was trying to fix it to help people out (it is referenced in a new thread), but the "edit" button is missing. Perhaps edits are restricted for posts of a certain age? This one is slightly more than 2 months old. Link should be to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXCmE7ordq4.

(And yes, this is how I spend Saturday morning at 5:08 a.m. Don't judge. :p)

All better.

(Yes, editing is locked after 2 months, but I'm certainly happy to go back and fix things like this.)

Yes, editing is locked after 2 months,

may I ask why this is?

It's actually the default behavior for most bulletin board software. There are likely a couple reasons for it. One is to keep people from messing with older threads without being noticed. Editing a post doesn't bump a thread to the top, only adding a new post to a thread brings it back up again. Another is that in the worst case, someone could have a change of heart about their dozens or hundreds or thousands of posts, and either change their meaning or delete the meaning/content without even being noticed. By time most threads are a month or two old, they are pretty static anyway; even the exceptions to those do just fine by adding new posts to the end of them, which can happen forever.

In the rare case where someone has a legit need to wipe or change old content, I'm happy to do it manually.

LOL I was thinking something was screwy! I was going to edit something in a DIY and couldn't figure out where the edit button went. I wanted to edit in THIS post: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?p=10847#post10847.

Where I listed the total lash? That's kind of unnecessary. I think I originally intended on putting the DIFFERENCE in valve lash required so the column should read: Difference from ideal: .0035 .002 .003 .004 for the exhaust and: -.001 .0015 .0005 .0005 for the intake. Formatting is a pain in the butt for those to get the spacing so I apologize in advance for that.

OK - I half-assed the edit in there, so people will get the gist. :)
