View Full Version : Trackday in the AM
sowega March 27th, 2011, 07:52 PM We've spent the last week or so prepping my 250 to race in WERA this summer. No time to paint the new sharkskinz, but two of my friends went nuts with a roll of black masking tape while we were prepping other bikes:

ithaca00 March 27th, 2011, 11:21 PM Pretty bad ass!
JS73 March 28th, 2011, 06:17 AM Haha, that's a cool scheme, Ed. This is my first season, E Superstock is a blast! We just did RRR last weekend, between expert and novice we had 14 ninjettes, good times. :) Next race for me will be Barber, then Jennings.
Looking forward to meeting you out there, the more 250s the better.
sowega March 29th, 2011, 06:26 AM Wow, what a day. I beat the little Ninja around the track all morning, passing way more people than I thought I would. As long as I keep it in the right gear leaving a corner, it's good, haha.
By the end of the day, however, I was tired of getting sand (horsepower) kicked in my face, so I took the S1000RR out.
It's just a little quicker than the Ninja.
sowega March 30th, 2011, 04:46 PM This is what 26.6 horsepower looks like coming out of the 90s at Talladega GP:

I'm jealous haha, the S1000RR is such a nice looking bike. Albeit, I'm a little scared to ride a 1000, I tried pulling my brothers friend's R1 into the garage and I killed it because I'm not used to such a "touchy" throttle.
I <3 Acid Green S1000RR
Xoulrath April 6th, 2011, 09:05 PM I tried pulling my brothers friend's R1 into the garage and I killed it because I'm not used to such a "touchy" throttle. As I understand it, Yamahas tend to have on/off clutches. It was probably more that than the throttle being touchy. And yes, the S1000RR is a kick-ass bike. I have a friend who would love one.

Well I have an R6 that I ride sometimes also, but I have never ridden anything else than the 250 and the R6 so I couldn't tell you much about a comparison.
Sowega- If I may ask, what tires did you run and how did you like them?

The BT003RSs. It was my first time on the 250, so I don't have much of a frame of reference. From talking to guys who race in WERA, the BT003 Racing front and RS rear is the best/most common combo for track/race riding.
sowega April 15th, 2011, 02:52 PM We're headed to Roebling Road in Savannah in a few weeks; that 3/4 mile front straight is going to take forever on the 250, haha
