Constructions and detours around the area, not to mention the cheese grader surface the last time I rode there.. some kid on a GX'er 750 went down.. normal pavement would have cause less skin loss..

lincoln drive is THEE WORST!!

it is notorious for auto accidents anytime the weather was bad. i avoid that roadway at all cost, even when driving. and im actually for twisty roadways, too.

a nice stretch of road to ride is route 113 (from around the collegeville/phoenixville area to perkasie/lake nockamixon). a bunch of sweeping curves, nothing too wild, and great scenery.

Ok, i generally consider this parking lot the starting point for the river run. It's a seven eleven and a bunch of other places. The address is:

1 South Pennsylvania Avenue
Morrisville, PA 19067

From here its a quick jump onto 32 to start the river run. The short run is until where 32 meets 611. There is a diner there that makes for a sweet rest stop.
Then its either take 611 home or hop back on 32 and go south (i usually do the latter for the short runs) the longer runs continue past the water gap and really chap the ass. :)

Im like two minutes from the woodhaven entrance/exit to 95. Actually if you get off at woodhaven we can take rt1 up to morrisville.

An alternative could be to ride somewhere south of the city. Two of you guys are already down there and im not sure where Lansdale is.

Considering the weather I don't think I'll be riding this evening. I just got word that my gf will be going down the shore for the weekend so my Saturday and Sunday are now open. I plan to ride tomorrow, haven't decided where yet but if anyone wants to meet up just shoot me a time and place.

As for Sunday, it appears too many people live south so let's get something going south of the city. I ride till my ass falls off so distance doesnt mean anything for me. I am currently planning and saving up to ride cross country before I buy a new bike. I am already excited to say I did it on a 250. Not that that's relevant but I have some time to kill since I'm sitting on the john. :)

Philadelphia Riders (http://philadelphiariders.com/) are meeting in New Hope tomorrow morning to have breakfast and riding up north:

Hey everyone,

For the second Sunday ride this month, I built a new route that starts in New
Hope and heads up to Lake Wallenpaupack. The roads up near our destination are
a lot of fun. At the end of the route is a unique establishment called The
Hotel that has good food and beverage. I have a variation of the trip up ready
for our return.

I will be going to breakfast at Bitter Bobs at the beginning of the route.
Please feel free to join me if you would like at 9am, the link is below.
Remember that New Hope is known for its discrimination against motorcyclists so
plan accordingly... Do the speed limit. Park between the lines. Get your
paperwork up to date. And put your stock exhaust back on!

If you would like to eat at Honey's and still get in on this route, it is no
problem. Plan on leaving Honey's by 9:15 and getting to Bitter Bobs before
10am.

Sherpa is a 250cc, I ride off-road on most two-wheel vehicle, even my 250 scooter:

There were good amount of sportbikes that showed at Hooters, I didn't take many pics of them, to me they all look similar..

Good number of cafe conversions though:

well i have a slip on aftermarket exhaust and im occasionally getting some pops, which ive read means im running lean and need rejet. also would like to ad hi flow K&N air filter and from what ive read i need to add jet kit first. i know i will get a lil extra HP out of doing so, which would be nice. im just new to all this and a bit wary of taking my engine apart. ive done some cosmetic and control mods myself, but the mechanical stuff still makes me a bit nervous. plus this is my everyday driver so i cant afford to screw it up and not have trans for any extended period of time.

Shimming is a form of rejetting, just not as involved. I have a 2 bros slip on and it helped mine warm up quicker and idle better. I also pulled the snorkel. If you're definitely doing the air filter an moving to a full exhaust, from what I've read, you should rejet. Otherwise, shimming might be all the rejetting you need.

That's how I understand it at least :D

I got mine at Manayunk Triumph. They threw a bunch in a baggie for me. No problems, so they must've been the right size. I was itching to get it done one Saturday and I didn't want to order a dollar worth of washers and wait for them to ship so I checked with them and got lucky.

August 5th, 2011, 04:07 AM
Don't feel like quoting above posts, too lazy..lol

Yes shimming is a rudimentary form form of making your mixture richer. Adding an exhaust or pulling the snorkel will need shims. I believe it's 2-3 washers for an exhaust or removing the snorkel, otherwise your bike will be too lean. Of course I believe 2 works for most people, but each bike's factory mixture setting can vary a little. My friend's 250 runs a tad leaner than mine.

Not really, but I don't pay too much attention to mileage. Pretty broad estimates are that I'm getting about 50mpg, but I'm also pretty heavy on the throttle (and on the seat  )

I did the shimming pretty soon after I got the bike, so I don't have a lot to compare with when it comes to pre-shimming.

Hey guys and gals, if you are a member of the Philly Ninjas Group page and want to keep posted on group rides and events without having to check the group page daily then please subscribe to email notifications daily and you will never miss anything!

Our awesome forum moderator Alex informed me this is how it works:

The way that works is your group members need to subscribe to the group. It's in the bottom right of the groups page, called "Group Tools". Go to subscribe, and you have the option of no emails, daily emails, or weekly emails. Then when any group member posts up a note in that group, the people who have subscribed will get the notification in the frequency that they have asked for.

this is the link to the subscription page, just choose daily email notification and anytime a member posts something on the group page you will be notified:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/group.php?do=subscribe&groupid=15

anything related to our group can be posted and subscribers will always know what is going on.

I try to keep my rides early in the morning on weekends, traffic in the evenings during the week are just too busy for spirited riding around the city.

TWO WHEEL TUESDAY w/Philadelphia Riders (http://philadelphiariders.com/events.html) are always decent.
every Tuesday night at 6:00 PM to socialize with like minded riders, have dinner and a few drinks if you want. Rain or shine!

we'll prob get there around 8 (i run late sometimes so i give extra time to allow for my tardiness)

nick is supposed to go climbing tomorrow, but hes in if that falls thru.

tim, if u want a slip on check the forum marketplace and ebay. u can get something decent. a full exhaust would give u more horsepower but then u need to rejet too.

this one looks and sounds nice. $250 new shipped from australia:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ninja-250R-08-11-Carbon-slipon-Musarri-Short-exhaust-CF-/330588775022?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf8a0626e

def try not to spend too much on a slip on, cuz its essentially just a noisemaker. yea its lighter so less weight equals more speed, but for the price of some slip ons you can get a full racing exhaust

Have you considered a baffle-ectomy? I'm sure there's a tutorial on how to drill out the baffles. Doesn't really save any weight, but should increase your volume a bit.

Thought about it but it only solves half the problem. That stock can is uuuuugly.

August 23rd, 2011, 10:21 AM
ok, checked the map and we can take 95 down to columbus and exit. turn left on spring garden then rt on 3rd and we're there. piece of cake ;)

we'll prob get there around 8 (i run late sometimes so i give extra time to allow for my tardiness)

nick is supposed to go climbing tomorrow, but hes in if that falls thru.

tim, if u want a slip on check the forum marketplace and ebay. u can get something decent. a full exhaust would give u more horsepower but then u need to rejet too.

this one looks and sounds nice. $250 new shipped from australia:
[url]http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ninja-250R-08-11-Carbon-slipon-Musarri-Short-
exhaust-CF-/330588775022?
pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf8a0626e[/]

def try not to spend too much on a slip on, cuz its essentially just a noisemaker. yea its lighter so less weight equals more speed, but for the price of some slip ons you can get a full racing exhaust

Looks alright. I love the growler look. Damn them for not making it quieter.

Was that an earthquake? No It was jae's growler.

Ill have to give it a listen again tonight and sell myself on how "quiet" it is. Do they sell a silencer for it? I notice some other slip ons have a removable silencer. If so Im sold.

Oh, Will those shorty levers fit the stock bars?

So I was doing a little research today about what oil to use now that I'm on the cusp of hitting 10k. I've always stuck with the Kawi brand but I'm thinking about running synthetic for some extra protection. I found shell rotella t6 is a popular choice but I know you guys frequent some other forums as well and wondered if you read anything different.

What do you think of gpr slip ons? I found a few on eBay there pricey but they look fantastic.

There was a carbon fiber one I saw somewhere for 370 shipped. The gpr is probably the sexiest slip on Ive seen. I like the carbon akrapovic but it's too much at high five low six. In all honesty on these bikes I think I'll get more hp from p90x then I will with upgrades.

They asked me if I wanted to help out, so I decided to do it. My job turned out to be riding a judge around the bicycling circuit, which ran up Kelly, West River Drive, and a few other roads in Fairmount Park. He was working the pro level competitors, looking for drafting and passing violations.

Since all the pro level guys were so good and finished the bicycling leg so fast, my job ended a lot sooner than most other guys. Towards the end, when all the competitors were finished the cycling leg and onto the running leg, I got to take a bunch of loops up Kelly and through Fairmount by myself while the roads were still closed off.

No traffic and no cops :D

I have been a moto marshal for USCF and USACycling events for many years, rode in the big Philly bike race a good number of times, riding up Manyunk Wall, Kelly Dr., Lemon Hill, Ben Franklin Pkwy and Logan Sq. Who knows if they will have another race next year.

I rode in the Philly Triathlon last year, when they had a swimmer died in the water. I carried a photog that wanted me to get in the middle of the racers all the time, charging ahead of the race pack so he could setup his shots, racers pass and then we rush to get in front of them again for the next photo spot.
Triathlon races tend to be slower pace because racers are not allowed to drafting. Large pro peleton of bikes/racers in the Philly bike race can get moving significantly faster, even the pro women peleton. :D
