Valentino Rossi and Ducati MotoGP looking for answers

Valentino Rossi and Ducati are still looking for answers to the setup problems still afflicting the Desmosedici GP11.1 MotoGP bike (http://www.sportrider.com/news/146_1106_valentino_rossi_and_ducati_motogp_looking_for_answers/index.html)Ducati Marlboro’s Valentino Rossi is in the worst drought of his premier class career. When the nine-time world champion crossed the finish line of the Dutch TT in fourth place, it marked the tenth race in a row that he hasn’t won, a record stretch. The previous stretch came last year, but injuries were involved. Rossi went from winning the first race in Qatar, to breaking his leg two three races later, then suffering with shoulder problems from an April motocross accident.
The shoulder problems were surgically repaired following last year’s Valencia Grand Prix. The recovery period would be long, he said at the time, but it seemed longer than originally predicted. The damage wasn’t just to his body. By being at less than full strength, Rossi wasn’t able to offer the proper feedback to determine the course of development for the Desmosedici GP11.
Rossi abandoned the GP11 at the Dutch TT, racing an early version of next year’s GP12 with a reduced engine capacity to 800cc. That did not turn out to be the magic bullet. Rossi was a distant fourth and teammate Nicky Hayden, on the upgraded GP11, was farther back in fifth. Rossi was optimistic that they were on the right path, but closing the gap to the leaders, which now includes Assen winner Ben Spies, is going to be difficult.
