-----------------

A wet track slowed the MotoGP riders up in the morning session at Brno, and put a different complexion on the timesheets. Casey Stoner ended up fastest in the session, though his practice got off to a rocky start, the Repsol Honda rider crashing in Turn 3. Once he returned to the track in the second half of the session, he was soon back up to speed, taking the top spot with plenty of time left in the session.

The man Stoner deposed, Jorge Lorenzo, put up a valiant defense, coming up just five thousandths of a second short of Stoner's time after leading for much of the session. The wet weather suited the Ducatis, with Valentino Rossi posting the 3rd fastest time and Nicky Hayden in 5th, sandwiching Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa between them in 4th. San Carlo Gresini's Hiroshi Aoyama posted an outstanding time, finishing in 6th in the wet, ahead of Monster Tech 3 Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow. Andrea Dovizioso led a brace of Hondas, the Repsol rider ahead of Marco Simoncelli, after the San Carlo Gresini man had made the early going, while Ben Spies rounded out the top 10.
