View Full Version : Third Person Go Pro camera mount
cuong-nutz September 16th, 2011, 05:17 PM Nothing special. Just a test ride with my rough mock up of the camera mount. I haven't figured out how to make a hard mount yet so that's why I'm getting a lot of movement with the camera going over bumps.

The video was originally 16:9 and 30 fps but I don't have a good video editing software that my old laptop can handle. I can't even watch anything at raw 60 fps.
nickjpass September 16th, 2011, 05:38 PM It's like a game :P
Live2ride September 16th, 2011, 06:17 PM From that angle you can't even see the bike, it looks like your just floating through the streets; which is friggin awesome!
bob706 September 16th, 2011, 06:46 PM That's pretty damn cool

Let us see the mount. Please. Thank you.
Y'all are going to get a kick out of it when I show you what it is cheap and dual purpose too! I didn't take a picture of it though when I had it set up on the bike.

This is the first video I did

After that run I found out the video was really shaky so I added a wooden dowel through the pole and screwed it in, and added bungee cords to help sturdy it. It did a good job, but sadly it broke from doing a wheelie :( I'll make version 2 when I get the new bike, Im thinking of making it out of steel

akima September 17th, 2011, 01:45 PM I can't figure it out. I think it's in some kind of demo mode. How do I bring up the menu? What are the controls?
;)
Apex September 17th, 2011, 08:54 PM That area looks rather familiar to me. Memorial City area, I-10/Bltwy 8.
I always go over there to get sushi and Nori off Kimberly and Bltwy 8. :)
cuong-nutz September 17th, 2011, 09:37 PM Kevin, great video! What song is that in your second video? How long is your extension and what angle is it set at?
I'm actually using a Quickie Deck Scrub as the mount. $7 at Lowes and tape to secure it.

I knew PVC was cheap but I couldn't figure out how to make it sturdy enough without it flexing. After looking at your video, It looks like I can use PVC if I cut it into sections and coupling them together to stiffen it. Conduit was sturdy but heavy though.
I knew the broom I used is a thin gauge steel but the only issue I knew about it was that it was too short (4 ft?) to give me the view I wanted like in your video. I wanted the camera to be able to capture what was ahead of me and my body position instead of just seeing the back of my helmet.

Yep, that's City Center. I actually live over by Westheimer and Beltway and use to hit up the Anthills. Been so busy lately with school and work that I don't have much time anymore.

ya dude that is awesome, looks like youre just cruisin in mid air
cuong-nutz September 20th, 2011, 11:18 AM Version one was so much easier. All I did was shove the broom stick under the tool tiedown and taped the crap out of it to keep it from moving.
Here's version 2 beta. I got the idea from my bike rack I built a while back. More work involve since PVC is so flemsy. I was too lazy to work do any geometry before I started hacking. Using leftover plumbing that I never returned. Still needs to be longer for the view I want which makes it even more unstable.I might just shove the broom stick in it or use aluminum square tubing and call it a day.

Kevin2109 September 20th, 2011, 11:25 AM The extension was about 6 feet at a 45 degree angle
The song in the second video is Cracks by Freestylers (Flux-Pavillion-Remix)
Cazper September 20th, 2011, 11:36 AM I was gonna say it looked alot like Honey Badgers' setup... the OP's video does indeed look like there is no bike and he's just hovering around the streets... pretty cool

I was thinking it had to be at least 6ft in order to clear the helmet.
I eventually found the song using soundhound while it recorded a sound clip. It's an awesome song!
YORCHI September 20th, 2011, 12:59 PM it looks like Mario Kart
