:(

I think the time has come for me to part ways with my Honda. I love that bike.

However, I've had this itch to get a Kawasaki for a while because I love the quality of my little ninja 250, I just wanted it on a bigger bike.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Honda CBR's, always have, but I came across a "decent" deal that I couldn't back away from. I thought it would take me a bit longer to move up from a 600 to a liter bike because of finances but I guess I lucked out.

Soo, Im trading my 2006 cbr 600rr + some cash for this 2008 ZX10r. I pick it up Tuesday... can't wait.

Oh man, looks like fun. I was just watching videos of the 2011 last night. I'd love to have one, but the insurance is insane.

Well Im not the smartest person, I havent even got an insurance quote. It cant be much more as Im old (40) and the cost of the 600cc and the 250 wasnt outrageous for me. Too late anyways as I already made up my mind to get it and already did the paperwork.

BTW, I still keep my 250. That thing is so fun.:p

Being 40 probably helps. My insurance would probably be about $200 a month on that bike.

Nice bike. Of course they ALL look nice.

I looked at the ZX-6R but I didn't like the face-in-the-bars riding posture. I may get a Ninja 650R some day. Its basically a beefed up big brother to the 250. Its not a supersport, but still faster than most cars on the road.

I think if I owned your bike, I would be tempted to get a sticker that says "250cc Twin Cylinder 8 Valve" and stick it over the "ZX-10R" stickers. You might fool a bike thief or two doing that.

I wanted to get a 600, then found out insurance would be like $250 a month for an older 636 and like $350 for a new ZX6R or CBR600. So I'll be sticking with the 250 for another 2 years. Friggin' insurance costs.

Nice ZX10r though.

saxnbass how old are you if I may ask? It runs me $650 a year with one ticket and I'm 20. I wonder what it would be if I got a GSXR 600 or a ZX-6?

I'm 23, no tickets or anything.

From what to what, if you don't mind me asking. Well, technically you only need to give me one value and I can figure out the other one, but still. heh

Saxnbass, we both live in FL and aren't required to have bike insurance. If they give you a hard time, just dump them.

I ran a quote with progressive for a 650 and it was about $600 a year for full coverage with $500 deductables. For a ZX6R, the same coverage was $900. A ZX10 was $1100/yr.

Liability only runs about $70/yr for all bikes I quoted. But if you leave off uninsured motorist, its only $360 for full coverage on a ZX10.

I've been told uninsured motorist is a really really good idea to have in FL. That really ups the price of my insurance on a 600 if I was to get one though.

It depends on whether you have good health insurance or not. You don't really need it all that bad if you have good health insurance. It will pay for your injuries if the cager that caused the wreck doesn't have insurance.

Right - but your health insurance won't pay for your lost wages, or any other costs due to the accident that uninsured / underinsured coverage does include. Nightmare scenario is you get pegged by an uninsured driver, you are immobile for 3 months, and lose your job as a result. Having the uninsured coverage can be the difference between solvency or bankruptcy for many riders.

I wonder how much that Aflack duck insurance costs. It supposedly pays for lost wages. Might be cheaper?
