I have always loved cars and through the years have owned quite a few interesting vehicles. My main objective when selecting cars was to look for cars that handled well for my daily commute to work.

I noticed most here on this site are older and probably have owned some very interesting cars in their lifetime, too, so what interesting cars do/have you owned?

These are a few of what I have been fortunate enough to own and thought I would share them with you.

So, post up some of yours... curious to see what cages you all own. :)

UPDATE: We have gone on a bit of a Honda kick. I picked up a Honda Accord Hybrid for the commute car, and an Acura MDX for the "family car". Annie and I will probably trade off much more between these cars depending on who is doing what each day.

30762 30763

Annie and I were most recently driving Mazdas. Zoom Zoom. :) Here's the Speed3 out at Thunderhill earlier this year:

348 349

Annie's non-minivan mommy-mobile: :D

347

But before the Mazdas, we had Acuras. She had a TL, I had a CL-S.

351 346

Up until the Mazdas, we mostly owned Hondas. I really liked this '98 Prelude SH:

350

Ann used to have a '94 Camry V6. Nice long-distance car:

345

Before the Prelude, I had a '95 Integra GS-R, but I can't find any pics of it. :( It looked just like this, but black:

352

The CL-S was the only car I've owned with an automatic transmission, and I wouldn't be in a rush to get another; even if I'm in traffic from time to time, I still prefer a clutch pedal. Haven't owned a car (that was my daily-driver) yet with one of the newer generation of automated-manuals (VW's dual-clutch, for example), and maybe I'd enjoy those. The last few automatics we have owned (Ann's cars) have had the "manual" mode, but it's just not the same and seems gimmicky more than particularly fun or useful.

I've mostly owned boring Nissan Sentras and Toyota Corollas all my life after my first car, a 1972 VW Beetle, bit the dust. Last spring it was time to buy only my second new car ever and I settled on a Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5. After doing all the dutiful research and comparisons, it was the styling of the car and the nice interior that really won me over. Toyotas and Hondas seemed so plastic-y inside. The trend in the auto industry to phase out manual trasmissions was a problem too, as I really wanted a stick shift. My Coupe has more horsepower than a comparable Camry or Honda and is a real blast to drive. Passing in 3rd gear is like hitting "warp drive" on the Enterprise.

...after my first car, a 1972 VW Beetle, bit the dust.

My first car was a 1973 bright green Super Beetle! Barely had a reverse gear, and only survived a few months of my ownership, but I won't forget it.

Well... I USED to have a 92 Supra. But it is no longer.

Here's some various pictures. Had a lot of work into it. 1JZ swap. Blitz Twin Turbo kit. Tein Coilovers. Recaro interior swap. etc.

Some rain, slick road, a center divider, and that was that. Wasn't driving fast but those turbos kick pretty good when merging on the freeway... probably should have just waited the rain out at my friend's house.

I could have gotten another car and swapped everything over but I was a little fed up at the moment. I had just gotten it back from being fixed a couple months ago from an old lady that thought my Supra was a bumper car. So I said F it and just parted everything out...

yeah, sometimes when you put a lot of money, time and sweat into a project, duplicating it just doesn't feel the same and walking away is often times the smart thing to do.

besides, you wouldn't be into bikes if you had rebuilt it, right? :)

Kurosaki

Correct. I never got a bike because of spending money in maintenence/mods/gas etc. Although, in hindsight, I could have afforded it with the Supra. Especially if I was riding the bike more often. But then, the best part about the bike is I don't have to or need to ride it. Only when I feel like it. (and I've still managed to rack up 5500 miles so far:confused: )

My biggest thing was that I got burned out of the supra being my only car. I was capable of doing most all of my own work and never left me stranded, plus a good friend of mine runs a shop that specializes in Supras. I just got tired of having to plan time to work on it. Like if I needed to swap the turbos, I'd have to get to work friday and make sure to finish by sunday so I can go to work or school on monday... Got old after 4-5 years...

yep, when a hobby or a part of the hobby starts to be work instead of fun, you need to seriously look at stopping it. I stopped riding dirt bikes for many years from being burned out from trying to get better and better and not succeeding to the level I wanted to ride. After awhile, riding wasn't fun and I had to step away from it for a few years to regain a healthy attitude towards riding offroad. I no longer race or have any desire to compete and love just futzing around and having fun on dirt roads and trails.

Here is my first car at an autocross. Its a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 with about 175 raging horsepower :D

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/Autocross.jpg

Here is my next car at another autocross. A 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z. I got it when I graduated from high school. It was in pretty bad shapes, dents all around, bad paint, missing wheel, missing door, etc. It has a 350TPI with LT4 Hot Cam, 10:1 Forged Pistons, and mildly ported heads. Probably around 320 HP. It also has a lot of suspension mods. It is pretty uncomfortable for everyday driving as there are no bushings left in the suspension (except the polyurethene in the lower front control arms, everything else is rod ends)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/DSC_9146.jpg

And at a track day at Summit Point in WV.

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/PA130715.jpg

And the two together (the 85 had been in storage for 2 years and is pretty dirty)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/PC300764.jpg

I am fixing a couple things that are wrong with the 88 this winter and selling it in the spring. Then I will start working on the 85. I won't ever get rid of that car :D

I almost forgot these guys. The 4 cars I built while in school. Formula SAE cars.

Freshman Year 2004: 301 lbs. Yamaha YZ426 engine, with electric start, and custom fuel injection. Swing arm rear axle. Lightest car ever at US competition. (Was cannibalized for parts, and now what's left resides in my basement).

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/147127981EEcLDM_ph.jpg

And one of the shirts we had made. It was a hit with the competition.

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/148905456LfdDCI_ph.jpg

Sophmore Year 2005: 356 lbs. Yamaha WR450F engine, custom fuel injection. Swing arm rear axle. Carbon Fiber Monocoque made using leftover carbon from the X-33 experimental space shuttle. We used the autoclave at Vermont Composites where they make the carbon fenders for the new Z06.

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/LUFSAE05.jpg

Junior Year 2006: 336 lbs. Yamaha WR450F engine, custom fuel injection. Cut and fold carbon fiber monocoque (not autoclave needed, formed from one large carbon panel) Carbon fiber flexure suspension (similar to F1 but they use titanium)

http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh87/camaroz1985/LUFSAE06.jpg

Senior Year 2007: 344 lbs. Yamaha WR450F engine, custom fuel injection. Cut and fodl carbon fiber moncoque. Carbon fiber flexure suspension. An evolution of 2006 with improved reliability, ergonomics, quality, and engine flexibility.

Cool pics! Think the road racing springs(900lbs per inch) & bilstiens makes for the hash ride on mine. Rod ends seemed to really help the suspension, keeps everything from binding up. You should look into Global West Suspension's Del-a-lum front a-arm bushings. They are freaking awesome, night and day compared to urethene ones :)

Richard... I had actually forgot that the 993 was the medium that you and I had met. Good times, eh?? :)

Yes, I miss that car... but here on Kauai, it was too much car to be upkept like it should be. I'm very thankful it went to a great new owner.

Glad you still have the cab... must be the perfect car for SoCal. I'm so sorry I never made it up there when you had the Stradale. I would have loved to have had a chance to sample driving one. :D That is still one car I would like to own one day.

I have always had an attraction to Ferraris and the Stradale is one that I was actively seeking about the same time you had yours. To me, Ferraris were always supposed to be red, but after seeing the car you had, I knew that if I ever bought a Stradale, it had to be yellow. That car was gorgeous!

LOL, I remember reading about you thinking about putting the car on a ferry to the main island for corner balancing. Now, that's dedication! I can understand how even an oil change would be a major production on Kauai :)

I was always a Rossa Ferrari fan as well, but when I saw the Giallo, well jeez, I was weak in the knees. The car was just so damn gorgeous. To me, the best looking car ever made, inside and out. And the sounds.... wow. I put a level 3 Capristo on mine, which in itself was an absolute piece of art. The sound.... just incredible. Nothing like an over-square V8 at 8600 RPMs :) If you ever get a chance, Kelly, you won't be sorry

In the end, I thought it would be hard to part with it, but it wasn't. I'm not nearly money enough to truly enjoy (DRIVE) a car like this. For someone with the cash, this car should be flogged and flogged hard, within an inch of its life, to really get your money's worth:)

I had a 63 Corvette Coupe with a 327cu in 350 HP engine. Also a SAAB 850 Monte Carlo that was used in Rallyes. In 1971 I got an Electric Blue SAAB Sonett with a V4 and twin Webers that I autocrossed. Got married in 85 and got a Blazer (Wife had two kids and a two seater didn`t make it) We now have a 3/4 Ton Chevy Suburban 2WD with a 6.2L Turbo Diesel and a 95 Ford Escort Wagon. I much prefer riding my Ninja and my bicycles. I run a bicycle shop.

It kills him that my car is faster... but I do let him drive her quite a bit - and he gets all kinds of compliments on her when he does... most of the time he even fesses up that it's MY car ;) But his VW does have its uses... it's how I REALLY learned to drive a manual - I 'knew' how before, but wasn't terribly proficient - not the case now! And being a hatchback, it comes in handy to haul things from time-to-time, but if it's too big we just use mine with the trailer, so it's only marginally useful :p

Well, I have an '04 WRX, but for the life of me can't figure why you would trade a perfectly good-looking '07, in the correct color I might add, for an '08.....

See, it's like this... I was in getting new free front brake rotors and pads last month, under warranty (1,000 miles on the bumper to bumper, good wear warranty on those Subies) and I had heard they were trying to sell the remaining 08's off. Since I had a bit of time to kill, I went and took one for a ride, and jokingly told the saleskid I would take one if they could keep me in the same payment.

They gave me $29,000 for my 07 with 35,000 miles on it, sold the 08' basically at invoice, and I got 0% financing. My payment stayed the same, I got a car with 35,000 less miles, and I'll pay it off 4 months sooner.

To tell the truth, I like the interior and the ride of the 08 much more. The 07 was a prettier car, no doubt. I couldn't get a blue one in the hatchback style, it just didn't look right, so Dark Grey Metallic it is.

The 07 had an APS intake, Catless DP, SPT cat back, big TMIC, lightweight flywheel, and an open-source tune. It made 297 HP to the wheels and 330 FtLb or so of Torque. For a stock turbo car, it was stupid fast, but fun! The 08, other than a tune, is still stock. Quick, but not as scary as the old one... yet.

I traded my wrx 07 in also, Got an 08 STI too! Picts eariler in the tread.

Love it love it!! I rack tons of miles and try to change them out abit sooner then most.

250's and Subies go together!

I saw it, the white looks awesome, but I could never keep it clean :(
Welcome to STI ownership... Hang on!

I bought my 250 after I had the Suby. The 250 is my economy ride, but turns out it's quite a bit of fun to ride, too. They do make a good combo, the 250 for everyday commutes, the Suby for a fast blast or rainy day.

Haha I went in to get a fog light replaced. I got the cowlings off and everything but could not see how to get the fog light out and didn't want to force it. It was warranteed so I took it in and yes the rest is the same story!

My dealership sold about 16 of them in a week. That dark grey is sweet.

If you paid cash for any truck you are ahead. And it sound like you have a great time modding them the way you want.

We got bored a couple of weeks ago and shopped around for fun at the Toyota dealer. It is obscene what they want for a Tacoma now days.
We were just goofin off but man so crazy in the price or should I say overpricing...

Yeah the best part is I got it for about $400 under book... I kind of look at myself as a city boy redneck... Just the big trucks part, but mainly it was for the trips to MOAB... Losts of fun down there. Plus here I am only like 20 minutes away and you are in the mountains.... Losts of trails!
The Wifey and I were lookin' at the 4 door tacomas with a 4 inch lift (new off floor) they were priced around $40K.. Get lost huh? Love them trucks but not that much... Wait a few years and find a used one...

I've always had an attachment with the Chrysler Conquest TSi.

My first was a 1989.

http://www.dragtimes.com/images/5983-1989-Chrysler-Conquest.jpg

Then I picked up this beater 87 for $300.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j258/imzadi930/IMG00113.jpg

Had a 1993 Talon TSi AWD with a 16G turbo. No pics left.

Looked like this one.

http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/autoreview/400x266/1990-94-Eagle-Talon-92105031990112.jpg

Bought this new in 2004. Best pickup I've ever owned.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j258/imzadi930/june08001.jpg

Wife is driving the Ranger now, but we are probably selling it when the first kid comes along, for either a Trailblazer SS or an Audi Allroad 2.7TT...

My new toy... a 1987 Dodge Raider.

The day I bought it for $1500.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j258/imzadi930/dayone003.jpg

It's coming along nicely. I bought the Ninja because I am downing the truck this summer for a full restoration. The motor is the same 2.6L that comes in a Conquest but N/A and carbed.

I'm building a forged monster 2.4L Mitsubishi wideblock 4G64 with a 2.0L DSM head with all the trimminngs. Garrett GT-30R turbo. DSM EFI with an EEPROM ecu burn and everything that goes along with it.

New body work, fresh interior, full Old Man Emu suspension, ARB bull bar with Warn wench.

It is going to be a monster.

Wow, another 18 year old one owner vehicle. My mom bought a 1991 Honda Accord brand new and gave it to me a few years back because she was too lazy to sell it. I've always used it when my car is torn apart, but am really considering selling it soon. It's starting to have too many problems for me to fix.. now has 188,000 miles.

How's yours holding up? Any major issues? These Honda's last forever

Ah ha, I was wondering if there would be some common problems. Alternator only lasted about 10 years. Yeah, real fun job.. we had to drop the axle and remove just about everything to get it out.

About 3 years ago it sounded like there was a fart can on the back and to pass emissions you need a sealed exhaust. When I took that thing out to replace it the resonator was in 2 pieces!

It`s really funny that ever since I got int bicycling in 2004, I have really lost interest in cages. When I got my 250R in June, cars were not something that I had any interest in. I have an old Escort Wagon with 200,000mi on it. I plan to get my wife a new Focus Wagon this spring. I prefer to ride my bikes. My Merckx bike is pure pleasure to ride. I set up a Cross Bike to ride this winter with studded tyres. Of course this spring the Ninja will be the way to go--although I will still ride my bikes at least an hour a day.

Well my first car (in 1960 kids, and no there weren't horses on the street) was a 1932 Chevrolet four door sedan, long block six, 4.75 x 19 tires on wire wheels, spare tires in the front fenders on both sides, shades and flower holders in the back seat.

Would do the 1/4 mile in 18.7 at 62 mile per hour. Hey stop laughing out there.

I'll play... I have a first year '01 supercharged Nissan Frontier 4x4 Crew Cab. It's "desert Sand" ooooo. It's got leather, power everything except seats and sunroof. It was a really big thing for that year. It's funny I test drove that truck when I was putting in a phone system for the car dealership and later on ended up buying it from the second owner. It's a lot of fun to play around in. I can give most normal "ricers" more than they bargained for, and the SC sounds so nice when it's at full song.

Everyone has such nice cars, I feel like a loser. But hey, it was free and I did all the work on it myself. New head gasket, some various interior pieces, had someone else tint the windows though. Next it gets a new exhaust due to a clogged cat and leaky sections. $100 a month because of occasional repairs is alot better than a $300 a month car payment to me. Besides, you would not believe all the cars I get to drive from work and just asking people.

2007 turbocharged Ford Mustang GT.... it has the special edition v6 grille, a rear spoiler delete... the turbo even quiets down the exhaust. a lot of people think it is a v6 with dual exhausts, rims, and "poser" GT badging. i REALLY love this car. it reminds me so much of my 66 mustang i had back in the day. i threw on 66 gt side badges, rear badging, and side stripes to further carry the classic theme.

geez... with that many cars, you must be reeeeeealy old!! :D

I'm so old that you and I were probably born in the same year. Now that's old! 40 years of driving, 50 years of riding.

I can remember when you had to push a button to start the car. I can't understand why they recently went back to the start button (probably some anti-theft reason).

I can remember when there wasn't traffic. I can remember when the cops called your parents when you got caught doing something wrong. I can remember when going for a drive was affordable and something you did when you got bored. I can remember when people hitchhiked and it was safe and actually friendly and a fun way to meet people. I can remember drive-in movies, drive-in restaurants, drive through convenient stores, and drive-up liquor stores. I can remember when you could drink and drive. I remember air conditioning was not only an option but most people didn't order it. I can remember going across country on a motorcycle and when you pulled into a restaurant people (including woman) wanted to talk to you asking where you were from and where you were going, they were friendly.

I can also remember when there wasn't an internet, no forums, no way to communicate with people of like interests from all over the world. There were no cell phones to call someone when you broke down in the middle of nowhere. I remember when vehicles didn't have the reliabilty to go 100,000 miles effortlessly (and a car with 30,000 miles was junk). Now most bikes and cars are bullet proof.

I remember so much that I'm out of memory. Everytime I remember something new I have to forget something old to make room.

That was suppose to be one bad ass car :)

It was written up as a supercar, the fastest sedan, Road and Track and Car and Driver each had articles about it. It was on the cover of one of them, I forget which one. I bought it from the original owner, some rich guy from the Hamptons out on Long Island, NY. It was fun to drive, sounded great, and really turned heads. I only had in it for a short time. Someone offered me ten grand more than I paid for it so it was gone. Looking back that was a big mistake.

Everytime I remember something new I have to forget something old to make room.

thanks!

C.C. Your thread sure brought up some memories. I remember when my friend Eddie and I rode a pair of BMW R-60`s with Steib sidecars across the US. We camped anywhere there was room--rest areas, church lots, etc. People were really nice to us. We had our guitars with us and played for meals and drinks. It was an adventure similar to Kerouac`s "On the Road". I still have fond memories of this adventure. Times have certainly changed since then. You mentioned cages you have owned. Here is my list: 1947 Ford Coupe with a flathead 8, Offy heads, 3 Stromberg 97 Carbs, chopped and channeled, nosed and decked, Moon discs, Full length Lakes, and a tuck and roll Naugahyde interior, and a 1953 Buick Titan Red paint job. That was my HS project for which I got an A. Wish I had pictures. Got a Zundapp Sabre 200cc during that time. Really did not like a 2Stroke and traded fr a 56 NSU Special Max 250 which I owned till 1991. Other bikes included a Triumph TR-6, a BSA Lightning, Ariel Square Four, H-D Sportster CH, BMW R-60, Norton Atlas, with Paul Dunstall package, JAWA 360, Bultaco Metralla. For cars, after the 47 Ford, I got a 63 Corvette Coupe. Kept that car till 83, 1966 Mustang 289 Coupe, 1964 Dodge Dart Convertible 225 Slant 6 with a 4Sp. When I got out of the service I got a 1971 Saab Sonnet 2 Seat sports car, Got into SSCA racing and got a Lotus Super 7 Track car which I towed with a Blazer. Drove Blazers for years. Now I have a 95 Suburban 3/4 Ton 2WD 6.2 Turbo Diesel and a 1995 Ford Escort Wagon along with my 08 Ninja 250. I can`t say I was ever really into cages. I sold the 63 Split Window Coupe in 83 to pay off my Master`s Degree. I wrecked the Lotus at Lime Rock. I think that the 71 Sonnet was the most fun car ever. Got married for the second time in 85 and have owned utilitarian vehicles since.

CC Cowboy

Alex, nice recall. To look back in our own history can always bring a smile. A Lotus 7 at Lime Rock seems like the road to heaven. So did the 63 split window ever attrack any of the ladies? Impressive list of vehicles. Kids these days can't come close to the varieties we had to choose from.

Those Zaabs, I mean Saabs were two strokes weren't they?

Sailariel
January 19th, 2009, 07:30 PM
Not this one. The 71 had a Taunus V-4 with a Solex 2 Barrel Carb. The car was later modified by me, getting a special intake manifold for two Weber 2 Barrels and a custom free flow exhaust by Jamestown Engineering. The car looked like a Baby Maserati and had a full roll cage and Minilite Mags. I put Bilstein shocks forward and Konis aft. I did make the fake scoop in the bonnet functional to combat the high temperatures in the engine compartment. The car had a GRP body and was designed by Sergio Guggiaro. They stopped importing them to the US in 1975 because the car could not meet the height requirements imposed by the US Government--same fate as the Lotus Europa. Incidentally the Taunus engine was 1.8L, and the car weighed 1750Lbs.

Ive owned over 150 cars in the last 20 years so I'll just post a few that I still have. I own about 20 cars and trucks right now and I have lost/misplaced/forgot about cars that i still have the titles to but don't know where the hell I stuck them when I ran out of room around my home area. I've had some real nice cars and some REAL beaters that for sure. now I want to make a list because i kind of want to know how many I've had total.

If you mean the one in PA, then no, and who knows when that will happpen.

I meant the PA one. I have relatives in the Highspire and Middletown area and thought I would visit them if the track was finished and opened this spring, summer, or fall. Did they run out of money? What town was it in again?

I grew up in Middletown (only live about 10 minutes away now). Small world. Anyway, the track was in Valley View. It was called Rausch Creek. I believe they just ran out of money. They fought with the township for approval for so long, and finally did get approved. They have moto-x and 4WD trails there now, but the track has not happened yet, and given current economic situation I don't see it happening for a while if at all.

Here is the website http://rausch.standingstonemedia.com/cwo/Home

The one in NJ is about 2.5 hours away. Here is that link http://www.njmotorsportspark.com/

Oscar, You asked earlier whether the Split Window Coupe was a chick magnet. Not really. It had side pipes which had a quite sporty sound. I do remember in 1964, I had a Morgan Plus Four--one of those cars with no heater, "Elastic Suspension"-yes, Rubber Bands, a wooden floor, and inflatable seat cushions--which were a rubber bladder in a sort of leather pillow case. The Brits have a sense of humour. Anyway, I was out on a date and in the course of getting to a party, I hit a bump in the road, and somehow her cushion got a puncture. The cushion made a noise similar to a loud fart, and she ended up sitting on the hardwood floor. Needless to say, she was quite upset. The conversation went to, "Take me home." and after I did, "Don`t call me, I`ll call you". That phone call never materialised. So much for classic sports cars. Oh, I forgot, the starter did not work, so I had to hand crank the beast---Lucas--The ignition from Hell. Thought you would enjoy that bit of nostalgia. I still laugh when I think of it. Still waiting for that call.

CC Cowboy
January 23rd, 2009, 06:22 AM
Alex, are you sure that girl didn't pop the seat cushion to cover up that massive fart she cut? I've had my share of Lucas (father of darkness) as well with a couple Triumphs and a few Jaguars. The cars were always fun to drive but you had to go through a prayer ritual and much hope each time you wanted to start them. I actually drove my 71 V-12 E-type across country. I only had two problems the whole trip. The fuse blew for the A/C (easy fix) although the A/C froze your upper body as your legs and feet roasted, and I sheared the drain plug when I launched the car on some dark road in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. I had to drive as fast as I could to Laramie as the gas leaked out of the plug. Luckily I didn't hit anything (deer and bisson where known to cross the road) and I made it to town on fumes.

2005 Mazda3- it was the really nice one, I totaled it and used the money to buy cash my next car...

2003 Mazda Protege, it's very basic, but hey I don't have to worry about car payments and insurance is about $77/mo, that's it.

prices have dropped back down. for a while it was pretty nuts. dealerships couldn't move the large suv's for anything. in hawaii, gas got up to around $4.80 a gallon or so for super unleaded. i don't remember exactly how much it was. right now it is about $2.58? i only fill up my car once every 4-6 weeks, so i don't pay attention to the prices.

and what do you mean gas guzzling stang? i get an amazing 13 mpg city driving.(highway it jumps up to about 25 mpg) lol. yeah, good thing i walk to work.

These are stock pictures, but my 2008 Altima Coupe looks exactly the same. I've never owned or wanted a red car in my life, but when I saw my first Altima Coupe last year it was this color and I just couldn't take my eyes off it. It was the same feeling I got when I saw my first Yamaha Seca Turbo and the early Suzuki Katanas. The styling just grabed me and didn't let go. It's a 6-speed manual shift and accelleration in 3rd while passing is like hitting the "warp speed" switch. Has all the goodies like keyless entry and push-button starting, more horsepower than a Camry and gets great MPG. There are plenty of Altimas on the road, but I've only seen 2 other Coupes in traffic since I bought it last year. It only has one body panel (the aluminum hood) in common with the standard Altima and I get stares and comments continually. Bought it the same month as I did my Ninja and I'd have to say those were two of the best purchases I've ever made in my life.

I think I'd go R33. But we don't get any Skylines over here... unless you consider the new R35 Nissan GTR a Skyline.

I personally think the R35 is a totally different car... Skylines stopped at the R34 IMO.

Thats an awesome car wayne. I really like the new accord coupes too. they look similar

I looked at the Accord Coupes too. The one that I liked was the Si and it required premium gas. This was when regular gas was $4 a gallon and I just couldn't do it. I wasnt that impressed with the interiors of the Hondas either. The interiors all seem to give up style for ease of use and I found the controls and knobs to be very plastic-y and large. The Altima Coupe's interior is much more refined and stylish IMO.
At the time the Altima Coupe made it's first appearance I was working at a car-hauling company located at the "New England Automotive Gateway" in Central Mass. That's where every new car is brought in by train from the car factories and then trucked by us to the dealers. So I got to see every new make and model of car that came out. The Nissan section of the huge storage lot was right outside my office window. I came to work one morning and saw my first AC being unloaded from the train and it was love at first sight. That job had some great advantages, like being able to see every possible color and option package of any car made and even being able to "test drive" a few on the sly. By the time I showed up at the Nissan dealer I knew exactly what I wanted and it was the easiest sale the salesman ever made!

Hey that's nothing. Go over onto one of the Altima Coupe message boards and you'll see some really obsessed owners! :D
If you're into weird-looking cars, don't forget about the Nissan CUBE or the Kia SOUL, although I'd probably opt for a Scion since they've been building xbs for a while and have the Toyota brand behind them.

I can't speak from personal experience, but I know a friend who has a 6 from a few years ago and has over 100k miles on it. I know he's never had problem with it and he drives it hard. He uses it year-round and loves it. I'm not sure about the new line of Mazda's though. I won't lie, I don't like the way they look very much.
