Sooo... I went back to the dealer that had the cbr600rr that I wanted so badly, and right as I got there, there was a guy riding off on it. So I felt pretty crappy but as I thought about it a little more, I realized that the bike that I really, reallyyyyy wanted was an 09 R6. So I went down to our local yami dealer just to see what was in my price range. Saw a couple of decent bikes but nothing that really caught my eye. And then... I saw her, Sitting in the corner next to a couple of older sisters of hers. A beautiful 2009 R6 Raven. Only one problem now, the price... They were asking $9000 for a bike with 11000 miles on it!!! So a salesman walks over and we start talking. Well, very long story short, after a few walkouts, I end up getting the bike for $6000 OTD and they ordered me a brand new rear tire! She's such a beauty.

Oh, yeah, and it's LOUD!

And now... Since I'm not going to be nickjpass (jk love you buddy)

haha never! I love the sound of it! And yes, it's completely open. Aftermarket headers (stock yamaha headers have screens in each pipe to control noise and add back pressure) t-tuner midpipe, and the gp1 tip. The only way to possibly make this thing louder would be to just run open headers.

how the heck you went from 9000 to 6000 otd? you must tell me

Well, the bike has been in their showroom since before I bought my ninja. And the salesman that I talked to was kind of at the point where he wanted to be the one to make the deal on this bike. So I did some homework and I came back. I reminded him multiple times how long the bike had been there. And I left 5 or six times and he called me back every time. Finally I had him down to $6500 so we went out and I pointed out every single tiny little problem with the bike. Everything from the fact that it desperately needs a new tire to the tiny little spots where the gold had chipped a little bit on the grips. And eventually they came down and we agreed on $6000 OTD with a new rear tire.

Oh and it does help that I used to be good friends with the guy that used to own this bike. And he sold it to them so he would have money to start skydiving. And they only gave him $4000 for it :D

Two Brothers full system? The slip-on is pretty quiet from what I've read because a ton of the sound is contained in the big cat box thingy right before the exhaust can.

The full system rips though :D

Lol the bike has MJS race headers. So the slip on connects to the end of the header. There is no catalytic converter, no muffler, nothing. It's completely straight piped. So with that slash cut tip, it's just obnoxious. I'm hoping the two bros will quiet it down just a little and maybe deepen the sound a little.

choneofakind
April 30th, 2012, 07:32 PM
how's that going to physically connect?

The Two Brothers can has their X-whatever connection system. Are you going to mount up the TB mid-pipe to the racing header?

The way MJS works is, your send them your entire factory system and they build you a set of headers that match the dimensions of your stock setup exactly, so the outlet location and diameter are exactly the same as from the factory.

 Unfortunately.. that is one of the things I really do miss about my 250. Now because I'm only 18, my insurance is already outrageous. But with my Ninja, I was paying $153 a month for full coverage with $250 deductibles. The same coverage with the same deductibles for the R6 was a little over 3 times as much. So right now, I'p paying $94 a month for just liability. So yeah, it's A LOT more. This is with progressive, and like I said I'm 18 and I have a perfect driving record.

I'm paying $112/mo for full coverage on the 2011 ZX I just picked up. That's 100/300 coverage. There isn't enough savings to justify 25/50 coverage so I just kept the higher limits. I was only paying about $80/mo for the same coverage on the 2008 ZX I had. I was pretty pissed about the increase honestly, but after seeing what some of you are paying, I guess I'll be happy with my relatively low insurance costs.

dude, I put over 11,000 miles on my 250 and ill be the first person to tell you that I wasn't ready for the power of this bike. the 250 is plenty fast for anything you could want on the street. There have been quite a few times where I was coming out of a corner and I got on it just like I would have on my 250 and I've almost ate **** because the back tire broke loose. That never happened on the ninja. And just to back up what choneofakind said, I can't corner nearly as fast on this bike as I could with my ninja. I'm not sure if it's because I'm just not used to it yet or if it's because the 250 is just that much more nimble.

Anyway, the moral of the story is, enjoy your 250 for a while. Go hit some twistys and it that isn't enough fun, go find yourself a secluded parking lot somewhere and practice doing some wheelies. That'll occupy you for a few weeks.

Unfortunately, I believe insurance companies only categorize bikes as either cruisers, trikes, sport bikes or scooters. A street triple would be considered a sport bike so the insurance would be just as much as any other 600cc bike. who knows, they might even charge you more for the extra 75cc's.. Lol
