I read all four books and my hubby and I went to see the movie. I absolutely loved it. He actually liked it too. Any fellow twilight fans?

I know zip about Twilight, but I'm a big fan of HBO's "True Blood", so I should probably check it out.

I know nothing about this, but my wife just asked for the 4 books for Christmas. Sounds like folks do enjoy them, and I hope she will as well.

My wife went to see it after listening to the tape and reading the book... She said it was good, but all who went with her agreed that it was semi disappointing... but good. I wanted to see it but could not get a sitter for the boys:(

And True.... Yes that HBO series "TrueBlood" kicks ass!!!

I just happened to pick up the first book as I am an avid reader and was instantly hooked. I am sure the wife will love them too. I am always disappointed when I read a book then see the movie however of all book to movies I have seen this was probably my favorite.

Aparently HBO was taken a bit off guard by the sucess of True Blood and is in the process of filming it's second season, but it won't hit the air until next summer. That's a long wait to see where this compelling show is going. I wonder how many other vampire-based TV shows will be on by then because of the sucess of Twilight?
Now if HBO has half a brain they'll release the first season on DVD by Christmas to get a whole new bunch of fans addicted by the time the show returns next year.

I had the opportunity to view it when furthering my chances into the bedroom with a female friend. /Masculine excuse.

Let's see. . . What I enjoyed. . . I didn't care too much for the cookie cutter dialogue and northwestern jokes. I did like the location it was filmed in and an overcast that stayed consistent with the film. Twilight is attempting to do what Dracula did, what Bram Stroker tried to do, what Eddie Murphy tried to do, what Underworld tried to do, what Buffy tried to do, what Blade tried to do, and etc. Obviously, Vampires are nothing new, so like cell phones, authors try to change the setting and rules slightly in order to re-sell it back to the masses. However everyone has their own take on things, and I respect that. I personally have not read the books so I can not comment on that, I'm sure it is more lush than the film was, having the reader's imagination experience the author's vision first hand.

That being said, Interview With the Vampire is in my opinion, the best Vampire adaptation on film evar. Go!

I totally love Twilight. The entire series just made me so giddy. The books MUCH MUCH more than the movie. The strength of the book is in the emotional depth that they drew me into... which is what the movie was lacking.

I loved all of the books and loathed the movie.......Robert Pattinson does not do Edward Cullen justice!

Loved the series, very easy to read. Haven't seen the movie yet, I don't know if it'll live up to the books. Can't wait to see. :)

For you Twilight lovers, try Stephanie Meyer's The Host. It's her first adult novel

+1

The Host had all of the emotional involvement of the Twilight series... not quite as giddy inducing for me, but still really great. ^_^

Read the books, saw the movie... The movie was mildly entertaining... I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the second book.

As for the books, I have mixed feelings. Reading the first have of every book was torture. I almost stopped reading the entire series during the first half of every book. But, I managed to make it through to the good half. If you could lose the first half of each book and shrink it down to 2 novels, it would be spectacular. I really didn't like Bella at all. The character was very unbelievable, whiny, and stupid for me. The supporting cast is what kept my interest through the books.

My wife just finished the 4th book yesterday. For the last two books, she kept exclaiming how much she hated Bella and was starting to really hate the author. But she somehow felt compelled to finish. :idunno:

... felt compelled to finish.:

That's it exactly. During the first half of every book, there's JUST enough interesting stuff to keep you reading. I kept calling up my friend who recommended the books to me and yelling at him about how bad they were... He kept saying "... just get to the second half!..." EVERY book is like that. If it was released under Creative Commons, I'd re-edit the books and release them as 2 novels with the good bits. Oh well :p

GUYS it is nothing like true blood. True blood is great and actually deals with known rules dealing with vampires. Twilight, is super gay my wife is back so i cant talk any more

I can't speak for the books but the movie's popularity is clearly teenager-driven... completely mediocre for anyone over 17 unless they are seriously sheltered. The PG-13 rating opens it up to the kids who couldn't watch proper movies in the genre and the teen-angst angle just seals the deal.

My life revolved around the twilight books last year and my husband said it ruined our two weeks together last year cause i couldn't stop reading the four books. I tried to put em down but couldn't. I have to say the movie sucked in my opinion. There was too many details missing and i didn't get the same story as the books.

Started to read the Host last year but couldn't get myself interested. I am not an big reader and everyone was surprised i read the whole four books. I'm surprised i got through one book as the biggest read i've ever attempted was the Green Mile from Stephen King which came in six small books.

Finally watched the movie and it was pretty rediculous compared to how good True Blood is. Definately got the impression that Twilight is marketed to teens and tweens only, so much that I actually felt dumb watching it. True Blood on the other hand is a mature and engrossing story that doesn't fudge up the mythology to make it more romantic. The romance between Sookie and Bill is much more edgy and real (I hear they're actually engaged in real life now) and the story doesn't pander to it. I think South Park's spoof of Twilight really said it all. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

i was anti-twlight for a while just cause everyone and their mother was into it. i started watching true blood and fell in love with the show. (they actually have 10 books out the show is based on). so i started reading twlight, and looove it. i watched the movie and hated it. they left out soo much the book talked about, i'm on the 3rd book now, eclipse. and it's good so far. i heard the 4th is the best. btw true blood rules still. lol.

screw true blood! :D (ive never seen it... umm isnt it a HBO show?)

I dont get HBO, cable/internet bill of $92/month is bad enuff... aside from being one of those ppl that gets all the premium channels that runs your bill up to like $180/month like some ppl?

ive heard of it and would like to see afew shows... can you rent episodes at hollywood video or sumin?
anyhow... twilight was ok i guess (i never, or will.. read the books)
the New one looks cool i guess... since this fall theres nutin really Great movie wise, coming out! :(

So... anyone Remb seeing " LOST BOYS " back in the day? i was like 12 when that movie cam out!!!

yes you can rent it at block buster at least. As far as permium channels, all HBO channels and HBO On Demand run me 8 bucks more a month. IMHO HBO is the only channel worth it. Starz is nice but nothing special, and the only good show on SHOWTIME is Weeds. HBO has TrueBlood, Entourage, Californication, and Reel Time. These are great shows IMO.

OHHH ant Twilight was dumb as crap. It is a porno that pre pubesent girls enjoy (you should see my nieces with this edward thing). You should read the FMLs about Twilight that include a girl breaking up with a guy for not being her edward, a girl who watches it EVERYDAY, and many more

Of course. It even got a recent sequel which I haven't seen yet (prequel?). I'm not sure if it was "made for video" or what.

I tried to watch the movie ... no go. I'm sorry, I got bored. I love vampire flicks, but this isn't my bag.
My wife, however, adores the movie and loves the books! I bought them for her for her birthday this past June.
I may try to read the books later, but right now I'm into Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series
