View Full Version : Replaced the 250 with...

Well, as you guys know, I lowsided the 250 a few weeks ago. The lowside bent the frame and it was totalled. So last Saturday I went out to Cocoa and got a replacement bike. Also had to get a new helmet, obviously, so I'll start with pics of that while I go out and take pics of the new bike.

Chrome visor front

Dark Smoke visor, side (side without the visor's rash :D )

Don't worry, I'm not pulling a full on nickjpass I just want to be sure I'm posting nice pictures of the bike, not half arsed ones.

And some pics. Not the greatest, but I'll be going out later, hopefully I'll find someplace nice to snap some pics while I'm out riding.

It rides really nicely. I sat on all the different 600s, different years for each of them too; and the 07+ CBR just fit me like a glove. Brakes are great, suspension is amazing, the power is mind blowing. I am loving this bike so much. And I can say that toping out first gear get you to about 80mph. :D

With a passenger, it's still quicker accelerating than the 250 with one light-weight person...

The CBR was a close 2nd choice when I up'ed to 600cc. Enjoy and be safe sir.

try not to kill yourself.Maybe a bit harsh, but understandable.

I never understood replacing the bike that you clearly cant handle (lo-sided last week) with a bigger bikeIt makes you wonder how some people make decisions, doesn't it?

I don't get it, either. If someone lowsides a 250, why would they think a 600 is somehow ok as a replacement?

Do you know Eric personally? Kinda crazy how you can judge a guys riding based off one low side. I have ridden with him many times, and he is just as ready as anyone else to make the step up. Crazy, but some people actually start on 600s, and are fine. He had 6k miles on 250 before upgrading...</endrant>

Also the bike looks better in person. Hopefully next time we go for a ride, you will be more used to the cbr, so you can keep up in the turns! And I will take up your offer to switch bikes during a ride one of these days. I really would like to see how the riding position feels compared the the zx.

Thanks, and no, this is not goodbye. I will continue to hang around Ninjette and leave snarky, sarcastic comments here and there. And sometimes even throw in some words of wisdom, opinions, and knowledge. :D

Thanks Rob. It's a bit funny how quick to judge people are. I'm pretty sure people would never to up to Rossi after a crash and go "Hey, you're not good enough to handle a 600, get back down on a 250."

The more I ride it, the more I'm getting used to how it handles and such. I'm sure by the next time we ride I'll be able to keep up, since we only ride maybe once every 2 months... though I do have 3 days weekends this month for school, so maybe we can fit some more rides in. :D

people judge you based on how you crashed and the way you talk about it. not simply that you crashed. there are many different ways of crashing.

Yes and most of them involve an operator error. He figured out what he did, and learned from it.....

^ coming from someone who traded in their 250 after 2 weeks of riding to get a 650, then decided on a SS. Your not the best person for advise on this subject...

And a lowside (as stated) is operator error. I don't know why going to a less forgiving bike would be the logical thing to do...

And Eric, I haven't personally ridden with you so I have no first hand experience. Just be safe, and keep the shiny side up

And this is the reason why I don't bother with this site much anymore. I figured you would be one of the cooler ones, but I guess not. And really, you went for a 250 to zx-14....What makes you "qualified" to give any advice? Instead of hate on Eric, and I guess now me, just don't reply to a post. If you don't agree with it, move on to another thread.....

Bur needless to say, the bike looks amazing. Have to say I'm a little jealous, but I'm saving my shiny pennies to get me an SV soon :D Stay safe, them 600's are not forgiving in any way, shape, or form!

Did u buy your 250 back salvage ?! Woulda made a fun track bike ! Or sell me any good parts off the carcass lol .

The Honda is sharp ! Razor sharp , I love the newer 600s . I haven't rode a Honda since I sold the 94 900rr . That was too much bike for my comfort at the time .

You defiantly have a decent bike to grow into now ! Not getting bored anytime soon will you?

I glad this forum is full of genius riders that have never made a mistake. I've actually ridden with Eric (all right, once, but still) and he didn't strike me as a reckless or unsafe rider. He made a mistake on the 250, and he certainly paid the the price for it. It wasn't because he was riding that bike beyond its capabilities. It wasn't because it had a high strung motor and a twitchy throttle response.

You can hate on him for getting a bigger bike. Go for it. I'll bet he rides his bigger bike slower than you ride your little one. For a little while, anyway. And odds are because he actually put himself on the pavement by screwing up, I'll bet he's a much more thoughtful, careful rider now.

If he made the same mistake on a CBR 600, he would have had the same result. Same speed, same goof, same crash.

I remember when this forum got started (or shortly after, when I was invited here), it was a bunch of riders with a common bike. It was also a bunch of polite people, who treated other members with respect, as if they were people they actually knew in person. There were plenty of other forums with loud mouthed, rude, ignorant, judgmental internet tough guys who made posts as if they would never have to see that person face to face. You don't have to be an asshole in person to be an internet tough guy, sometimes the anonymity of the internet and a screen name really brings out the worst in people.

Now listen: If you told him he made a mistake with the CBR, this doesn't make you an asshole. Or even necessarily wrong. But there is such a thing as going overboard...

Eric, let's get together and ride sometime again... We can even drag along 2 Harley 883s, a ZX-6, a ZX-14 (long ride) and even a Ninja 250 or two...

They are legit and sell many bikes per year. I know the owner, we run track together.
