What exactly is the difference between mesh and textile jackets? Which one will give more protection, and provide ample ventilation?

I'd post this up in the gear forum, and you'll likely get more responses. But basically, mesh is a type of textile jacket. Mesh is designed for great airflow, and is intended to be comfortable in the hottest climates. But - if you compare mesh to standard textile to leather, that's the order of protection as well.
