Modification OEM seat
Okay I looked at a Corbin seat, and decided I'd give it a try and modify my OEM seat, hell gotta be cheaper right?
Seat modifications are fairly easy and cheap to do, I would recommend picking up another seat off* eBay , there cheap enough, and then have at it.
So what's first? Comfort, so after looking and doing research I'd settled on a gel/memory foam insert.
I found what I was looking for from ONLYGEL.COM
they have a large selection of types, and sizes. The one I finally picked was the CONFORMAX™ Motorcycle Seat Gel Pad, model=Long RP
specifications:
Thickness: 1.0"
(0.5in.ULTRAGEL/0.5in.ULTRAVIS foam)
Length: 16"
Width Rear: 7"
Width Front: 5"
Includes Smoothing foam and installation notes.
Second was looks, I decided to take this opportunity to replace the OEM cover with one from our friends at Custom Seat Creations.
I picked the COWL LINE Seat Cover in metal & silver CF vinyl
Third, I thought, hey wouldn't it be cool to have a heated seat? So I found a kit on eBay that was inexpensive, and offered a Hi/Low switch, and it doesn't draw that many watts.
Installation time, well it was pretty much straight forward job, just like you see on YouTube.
Remove the OEM cover, cut, and carved out the OEM foam, to make room for the gel/memory foam insert, then install the heating element for the seat, finish off with the smoothing foam, install the new cover. I'm not going to get into the step by step how to, there are plenty of those already out there.
Final verdict:
Well worth it, comfort was improved a lot, I'm now able to spend many hours without being uncomfortable. The heated seat is awesome, a nice option along with the heated grips. The seat covers was perfect for the 07 OEM silver paint.
SIDENOTE:
Here is two places online that will modify your seat, for a pretty reasonable price.
