Possible alternative for Factory Pro Blue Magic Shift Spring

I was looking into the Factory Pro Blue Magic Spring which helps with false neutral, and gear selection problems. It's a stiffer spring in short.

1. Remove bolt and old spring.
2. Replace old spring with New Blue Shift Spring.
3. Replace bolt.
4. Shift better and find neutral easier.

The price is what I have an issue with, also from the Factory Pro website,

$30.00 USD is a bit steep for a small spring.

So I did some research and came up with possible alternative, and it's a lot cheaper.

Kawasaki is know to use the same part for multiple bikes, the spring is no exception. So after some quick research, I found this spring, and it's many uses

So I find this interesting to say the least.

So I found part#92081-112 on eBay for dirt cheap, and ordered it.

Upon inspection between the two springs, I noticed that the alternative is a little bit longer, and finger pinch test it was stiffer.





Okay time for some numbers, as in measurements

1998 Ninjette OEM 92144-1580 SPRING
Length=27mm/1.06"
I.D.=5.7mm/0.22"
O.D.=7.9mm/.31"
Wire diameter=0.7mm/0.02"

92081-112 SPRING
Length=30.9mm/1.21"
I.D.=5.7mm/0.22"
O.D.=7.9mm/0.31"
Wire diameter=0.8mm/0.03"

So the spring is technically bigger, and it's stiffer. Installation was a breeze.

RIDE REPORT:
Okay I can say it felt better, more firm, positive shifts, while a little bit more effort to change gears.

So there's a definite difference between the stock Ninjette vs 92081-112 .

For now just by feel, it's a difference in a good way, so I'd say it worth the money for this spring

So I'm happy with the 92081-112 spring, and maybe it's a cheaper alternative to the Blue Magic Spring, but definitely worth trying this one first, before the Blue Magic Spring.

Measurements of Factory Pro Blue Magic Shift Spring

Okay it arrived today, thank you @DCMoney so on to the measurements,

Length=35.1MM
I.D.=5.4mm
O.D.=7.9
Wire diameter=0.9MM

Pinch test, noticeable a little bit stiffer compared to the 92081-112 SPRING.

Well it's definitely stiffer than the 92081-112 SPRING, perhaps too stiff for my liking. It does for sure make a positive shifts, but in traffic it's a bit of a PITA.

I know what you thinking, man up well that's not the case, it a matter of riding comfort.

Personally I'm going back to the 92081-112 SPRING, it was noticeable stiffer, but not overly stiff.

My final word on this subject is if your looking to stiffen up the shifts, then the 92081-112 SPRING is the cheap answer.

    Why would you want a stiffer shift or lighter shift ?

    It makes it just stiff enough to help with false neutral, and more positive shifts, but not too stiff as the Blue Magic Spring.

    Makes for a more confident shift, which is sometimes an issue with the PreGen Ninjette.

    With the standard shift pattern I had a few false neutrals, but when I switched to a race pattern I had no more mishifts. This may be a free option to some interested.
