Bolt grade
American grades such a "5" and "8" do not apply to metric bolts. Metric has it's own similar sounding system.
The bolts are most likely 8.8 as marked on the bolt head. If they have no markings,...

Grrrrrrrr
I am always very careful around bicycles. It is the urban "wassups" on cruisers enroute to deliver their "commodities" that are the most stupid.
But, on Sunday, the Spandex Mafia come out in...

Update
Have some more miles on it. Rode it to Daytona for the 200. I have the shock on it now, but no pix of that part, pretty much went in with some mods to clear the airbox and fender.
Kawi and Suzuki...

Change the oil and oil filter before you ride it anymore. Hopefully no damage has been done. The bike has been running extremely rich because of what lamehead did. When that happens the unburned fuel...

Drain hole
That is a drain hole for the spark plug cavity, normally intended to drain water out. If any of the oil you dribbled into the plug hole missed the mark, that is the oil draining out.
It can also...

Quad shoe brake
The pictures of Ago on the MV with Quad leading shoe brakes brings some memories. I built a CB-350 cafe racer in '72. The shop I worked at had a whole warehouse full of scrap bikes from the 50's and...

Dirty carbs
We need a sticky for "Dirty Carb Syndrome"
OP says he lives in Faw'duh (same as me). Our gas sucks, the ethanol is bad mojo for any kind of carb, especially ones with teeny tiny jets. Ethanol is...

Spun bearing
This damage is known as a spun bearing. The bearing seized to the crank and "spun" inside the large end of the rod until it burned it up. Steel (the bearing shell) has to get VERY hot to turn blue...

Clutch assembly on a PreGen
The pressure plate is indexed to the basket. If you install it out of index, it will not apply any pressure to the clutch pack. There are indexing dots cast into the parts.
The best way to...

Flaw'da
There is only one curve in Flaw'da. On Sundays, 22,746 sportbike riders have to take turns on it, and it is 421 miles from my house, so the center sees a little more wear than the edges....

I had 5,400 miles in my rear Sport Demon when I removed it to install the 17" wheels. It is down to the wear bars in the middle.
