The owners manual recommended 10w-40. My dad says conventional is better for breaking in, compared to synthetic (what I normally run).

The cylinders were honed cross hatching is good....
The cylinders were honed cross hatching is good. I used 10w-40 (recommended) conventional oil.

My 2001 ninja 250 was running too lean on one cylinder and one of the pistons had a hole in it so we replaced it. One new piston and rings. How many miles should I be babying my engine? Everything is...
