I just did mine with genuine Kawasaki parts. It is a bit tricky alright but I just covered the groove in a diluted washing up liquid and worked it in. Getting your fingers inside helps to smooth it...

2004 running just fine in every respect. A really clean example with 6,000 miles on it and stored inside most of its life by the look of it. Electrical connections and cables are clean everywhere.

Get a cheap syringe and try any layer some inside the thread hole 6-8mm deep, let it dry...

There is no hose clamp, just some elasticated springs on mine but they are not great. I have seen this mentioned a few times on the forum. Some have added a hose clamp by the looks of it.

Idle not stable - carb issues?

My 2004 starts easily and runs well at speed and at normal temperature but it does have an idling problem. It starts on choke and if you leave it to warm up will eventually idle at 1200-1300 RPM...
