Like you I enjoy having a stable of older, more affordable bikes rather than one new shiny one. Very satisfying to work on them and they take the bumps and bruises of everyday life a lot better too....

First and easiest thing to check is tire pressure. Note the recommended pressure on each tire and fill to that amount. You'd be surprised how much difference even 5psi can make on the way the bike...
