Picked up a plastic bag of some sort and has melted on the exhaust.

Just use wax and grease remover if not thinners/gun wash.

Soak the exhaust with the product on a rag and it should come off....

Get a multimeter that has continuity tester and start probing wires.

Put +ive and -ive on either end of the wires you are checking it should "beep".

Much saver than checking the "hot" version....
