Here too, cabin fever! One of trackday outfits actually cancelled due to cold weather. I usually start in mid-February and would've done 4-6 trackdays and a race weekend by now.

I made some wooden covers that fit over the slides and allows me to clamp them in vice so I may be able to this by myself....

If you are driving halogen bulb which is designed for +12v input with HID system which outputs +20000v, there's problem. You need to remove ALL of HID system in order to get your headlight working....

If that's vent-tube is connected to middle of carb-assembly, it should be routed down between carb-intake tubes and come out by bottom of shock. Ends up at drain for crankcase and vent for gas-tank....

Spark plugs are fine. You most likely have clogged circuits in your carbs, resulting in insufficient petrol delivery.

Also I recommend shoving fuel hose all the way up petcock's fuel-outlet nipple...

Actually, manual states 2-turns out is correct spec for U.S. and CA bikes. So yours was correct and slightly rich on one side. Starting issues was most likely clogged pilot jet due to dried petrol.

Yeah, the extra weight of EX500 masks its higher power. An 0.5s difference in 1/4-mile can't be felt, really would need to pull out stop-watch. In drag-race, 0.5s @ 100mph is about 70-ft ahead...
