Like the other guys said use the center stand and put a jack (or blocks of wood) under the oil cap. I did this when I changed my tires, I took both rims off at the same time.

First of all it will just make things more out of wack. Second, the force through braking will work towards ripping the caliper off, not against it as usual.

Just cut off the connectors on the bike harness and crimp on some generic push on connectors. As for signals I have found these ones are the nicest of the chinese... I would go for the aisiancycle...

IMO $75 is much better than purchasing a kit and spending the time cleaning it yourself. Also if it doesnt turn out, you can take it back to the shop and complain lol.
