Thanks guys , Gonna try all your suggestions . Just bought a $100 parts bike - usual plastics all munched but low mileage and other than that may be another runner - Geez these things are addictive...

I'm with him . That stem looks like it was beat on. Shouldn't it be perfectly square shouldered to fit under the upper tree??
BTW I think I see your point though , I had the same problem on another...

OK , nevermind . Got it, I've got plenty of scrap weldable steel so I made a whole new fairing headlight cluster mount . Fairly simple really , duplicated the two curved structures with solid rod...

Yeppers plug removed but didn't bother to shim yet . Will do so in a couple weeks though, in the process of removing stock airbox BTW I'm first gen so no snorkle etc

Got me thinking , took it apart again and tried to put back together backwards YOU are correct , it fits only one way . The fins are offset from center - life is good...

Hey folks just rebuilt my carbs and like a dummy I took apart both carbs to clean . Sooo........ Where's the vent hole go under the slide - does it face the aircleaner side or the engine side ?...
