Excessive backfire upon deceleration is usually caused lean mixture. Try doing a minor tune up like you mentioned and tighten everything up..

I need to find the rubber gasket portion pointed out on the gas cap.

Mines deteriorated and doesn't seal the cap. It fits loose and the gas fumes comes through.

lol good luck tuning your jets. I had K&N pods and full yoshi exhaust. I pull the carbs out so many times. I can do it with my eyes closed, lol, and it still not 100%.

Not pretty but works great.
The parts were cheap, but hunting down the right size bottle and rubber stopper took some time.

Hopefully this can save someone the time and get their bike running...
