I don't think Brake Cleaner is going to tell you anything, and as noted, Starting Fluid is bad for the carbs plastic parts....

I would pull the carbs, throw away any parts from the kit, and replace them with stock OEM parts.

The carbs should be gone through carefully...

Probably use a solvent based cleaner to soak the piston in.

It will crank, but not start if it's not in place. Almost all the aftermarket ignition switches don't have it...

Not many young Techs can completely disassemble, properly clean, reassemble, and adjust...
