The only caveat I'd possibly add is dependent on the type of oil you used a year ago. If it's synthetic, I'd probably not worry too much but if it's conventional oil, it degrades even without running...

I didn't change it before putting it down because it's my daughters bike and she doesn't ride that much. The last oil and filter change was in mid-summer and it's likely only got 500km since then...

We have the very same problem. The first owner (we're third) did the fender eliminator and we therefore don't have the parts. Had to re-buy the OEM parts to get it to work. Pick it up tomorrow.
