Yepper, I already tried holding a both a heat gun and a soldering iron on it to no avail. Tried an impact driver too, no dice.

You shouldn't have to touch the tank to install those Oggy Knobs. Maybe it was because you didn't have the right tools? I found them pretty easy to install, lol.
