Before buying, be sure the handgun fits your hand well. If you can't properly grip it, accuracy, and self confidence, will suffer. Most women make excellent students when taught by trained professionals. They usually don't have any bad habits to unlearn and are attentive to instructions.
The lady in this series of pictures has a gun that fits her well. She is able to get her strong hand (right for right handers, etc.) fingers around the grip just the correct amount.
