New to bikes and third month experience? Not saying it's impossible, but it'll be difficult.

Most of the stories I've heard of folks just being able to jump into an Iron Butt long distance ride right off the bat have some experience under their belt. The rest build up to it in the beginning. Mad props if you are one of those riders who can hop on and just go.

Personally, if it was my first long ride, I'd just plan on going 2/3 of the way and build a day two into the schedule for the rest of the miles. That way you can go as far as you feel safe with no pressure to get there on time. If you make it in one day, awesome! If not, no worries.

For comparison, on my '12 250, my average Saddlesore pace is around 17-18 hours for 1000 miles and change (1020-1050 is what I aim for). My BunBurner Gold pace puts the 1000 mile mark around 15.5-16 hours. I've yet to do any of these rides in heavy traffic, so this is with wide open 70mph roads.

Enjoy your ride to see your daughters!
