With saying this I remember the Ford Capris from Michael May in Switzerland with their turbo engines, they'd run with carbs also and they've been very reliable.

I wouldn't increase the torque myself, case strength, bolt stretch and distortions are a problem. If I have any ptoblems I'll go to copper gasket and o ring the block, pretty standard fix that gives a "pinch" to the gasket.
