EPO is a growth factor that stimulates the production of red blood cells, mainly used to treat anemia resulting from kidney failure or cancer treatment as an alternative to blood transfusions.
EPO usage in sports was originated back in the 60's.. Health consequences including death in sleep... athletes participated in swimming, water polo, rowing, weight lifting, etc.. many have died in their sleep.. same goes for horse racing or dog racing..
