Trust us, you can run the 5w-40 in it without harm.
I've been running it for years in all my motorcycles, race and street.
If you want 10w-40 with JASO-MA, you'll most likely have to go to a motorcycle specific store like Cycle Gear or a dealership. To my knowledge, WalMart doesn't carry any other than the Rotella.
