I'm not fond of the foot-forward dynamics, either. Other than that, it's pretty. I really like the mostly-sportbike feel of my pre-gen Ninja and I can't see myself going to anything more cruiser-like in the future. I've only been on three bikes: MSF course on a Honda V-star, my Ninja, and an R3 for a test ride and I really like the sportbike feel.
