Thank you for the replies. Previous to this issue the bike had sat for a long time and we drained and cleaned the tank and took the carbs off as the jets were block. I can't remember if I cleaned out the choke pickups or not. The diaphragms looked fine.
I will take the carbs off again and check the choke pickups.
