Non-racer, question about quickshift/auto-blip
Happened to see a video that makes me want to ask the racers here a question (wish I could post a link to the video but I had it shown to me on somebody else's computer while waiting around at an airport).
The video was racing footage shot with the camera positioned to show the rider's throttle/brake hand. It was pretty obvious the bike was equipped with a quickshift/auto-blip system because (from the viewpoint of a non-racer) while the bike was lapping the track, negotiating many different corners, braking and accelerating repeatedly, the throttle/brake hand just wasn't doing much work.
The question is this: Is this the way racing is done these days, has the quickshifter/auto-blip system now become just basic, must-have racing equipment?
