I've met people who do think you need more displacement. One of my friends can't believe I'll take the 250 on a road trip. At highway speed. For a couple of hours at a time. (so far we've done Vegas twice and a 3-day, 600+ mile trip)
Usually it's people who want to replace their own bike, more than disparaging mine.
