Don't be that helicopter parent hovering over your kid at college. It is their time to grow and learn.
2 hrs away isn't too bad, my kids schools were usually 3-4 hrs away. Nice balance they are far enough that they aren't coming home every weekend, but close enough you can easily make the trip to get them and come back home in a day. My next door neighbor's daughter want to school only 45 mins away. She was home every weekend, I think that's too close.
