The thing I miss most about the CBR is the suspension. The power is a given but there is something to be said about wringing the neck of a 250 on public streets and not having to worry about hitting triple digit speeds. Like you pointed out the MPG on a smaller bike is nice.
Also, if you are curious about the size just go to dealer and look.

Still not a fan of the CBR but if you get a 1000 I would never fault you for it. Those, I've heard good things about.
