When I began cycling in traffic many years ago. I remember someone saying you would not shove an old woman out of your way in the grocery store . Why do you want to run her off the road because she is not driving fast enough for you?

Yep. I think it has to do with being in a little bubble inside your car. Other people are kind of ... not really real. Waving at your neighbor from inside your bubble is not the same as being out in the air on a motorcycle or a bicycle and seeing your neighbor. Heck, on a bicycle, half the time you can actually exchange greetings.
