I think you just need to buy whatever bike you desire more. Objectively, as a multi-purpose trasportation device the 500 is a better choice than the 4RR. The 4RR objectively is a better "sports" motorcycle.

But if you REALLY want to experience the most "sport" of the sportbike - then the track is the place. Since that is not an option for you, the additional "sports" of the 4RR may not be all that accessible. *I would venture that riding on the street at a pace that would really allow the 4RR to shine would be less safe than the track but YMMV*

The new 500 takes everything that was so great about the 400 and adds a little torque and useability on the street in an updated package.
