Just an FYI when it comes to the Trek 1.2. The shifters cannot be shifted if on the lower bar. You have to be up on the horns to shift it properly. Joy of the Sora Shifters.
See the little lever on the inside of the horn?
You can ONLY reach that from up top. So if you ever want to do anything aggressive, you have to move your hands off the lower bar to make a shift. Not good IMHO.
Now the 1.5, which is a little more, offers better shifters.
This style shifter, the Tiagra, is similar to what is offered on high end bikes. You can shift from on the horn, or down on the lower bar. It is more flexible, which is why many opt to get the 1.5 over the 1.2.
Several people get the 1.2 and are totally happy with it.
I will warn you though, the stock Bontrager seat sux!!! I went with a high end specialized piece and I love it. 4 1/2 hours of saddle time is nothing now. Before I'd only last 2 hours and I was done.
(EDIT: sorry if I made the post sound like I'm talking to a newb, I know you aren't)
