Dawns pics definitely show the areas you need to trim back. If you take your time and trim a little at a time the thing will fit tighter then (insert cliche here)

Yes I used the L brackets that came with it and mounted the plate just behind the signals where the plate light gets.

I actually checked with a couple cops in my area before I did this and they said as long as the plate is mounted horizontal and easily visible I would be good.
