KLR doesn't really have enough horsepower to make it a nice long range machine. The constant high(ish) RPMs will grate on you after enough time. They also tend to wallow a bit when loaded down with a lot of luggage. The one my brother has is decent, but I wouldn't try to take it from coast to coast, same as I wouldn't try to take my Firebolt coast to coast. BWM and the Goldwing really have the long distance stuff figured out. Some of the Victory Cruisers would be a decent choice if you wanted a cruiser style.
