One thing that is very common at motorcycle dealers which you don't really see at car dealers: brand new models from previous years. While these bikes can be a great bargain (there were some real steals around here last year on 2008 CBR1000s), you do need to take depreciation into account when comparing to a current model year. If you were comparing a brand new 2010 to a brand new 2009 available today, you should consider that with one, you would have the depreciation of a 2 year old bike the minute you ride it off the lot, and the other would only be the depreciation of 1 year.
