have you considered instead of dropping the throttle, leaving it WOT and tapping the clutch with the shifter pressed (and potentially letting the engine bounce off the rev limiter for one cycle while the clutch is in and its shifting) and then immediately dropping that tiny amount of clutch? as the clutch trys to engage, you'll be about 2k rpm above the wheel, so you get a little shot of engine momentum straight to the wheel.
if you do it right it gives you a nice little wheelie...
