Many "big bike" track day riders, like myself ('02 Ducati 998, '07 Yamaha R1) and fellow riders have taken to the little Ninja. I bought the Ninja for my daughter, but I find myself riding it more often than her. It's so entertaining, confidence building, and such a big blast. It's not always about top speed, but carving up the corners with speed. And this bike simply adds more smiles to the miles. ---The big tire does look cool but not necessary. The extra rotational mass impedes the 250 from spooling up hindering its descent drive through and out of the corners. If you do it, the 4.5" rim is a must to get the correct profile for a 150/60 (NO BIGGER). A better set up is to run the 250R with the stock rear rim and a 130/60 rear tire . . . a Bridgestone Battlax BT-016 fits the bill perfectly. Not aggressive looking but more performance minded. My daughter wants, ahem, the aggressive look. So I'll be installing the wide rim with Bridgestone Battlax BT-003s, 150/60 rear and 110/70 front. BTW . . . my 998 and R1 run 190/55s.
