Almost any bike will do 40-50 mpg if you ride them reasonably. The Dynaglide is rated around 50-55 mpg highway, and it's pretty accurate from what I have read, which isn't too far off what the 250r does.

Well the pregen ninjette gets about 70 mpg. I did do some research and the 1400cc dynaglide does out accelerate a 250cc ninja by one second in the 0-60 test. So what we are saying here is that it takes a cruiser over 1000cc just to break even with a ninja. A more fair comparison is to the Ninja ZX-14. That also has a 1400cc engine and accelerates 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds so hang on tight. Not many cruisers can match that.
