Rear brake caliper mounting help.

I recently traded my 2000 CBR 929 for a 2009 ninja 250r (more on the insanity later). To my surprise the brake pads were missing from the rear caliper but were included with the trade. The guys story was that he removed the rear wheel for tire replacement but could not get the caliper to line up with the pads in place. No biggy right?
This is far from my first time working on a motorcycle but I'm stumped. I have watched the rear brake pad replacement video (twice), used Kawasaki's rear wheel diagram to verify that all items are in their correct location, and swore at it multiple times with zero success. I've taken some pictures of the predicament I'm in and hopefully someone can shed some light on this. Please excuse my pictures, all I have is my ipod.
The issue has to do with a small "bump" on the caliper mounting bracket that prevents it from sliding over the rotor.

Look forward to your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help.
