Another thing to think about is generally when you replace intake and exhaust, you are increasing the ability of the engine to move air. Stock intake/exhaust is very restrictive at high RPM's which results in power dropping like a brick after a certain point. By replacing with aftermarket intake/exhaust while also increasing fuel, you are getting a lot more power at red line. So you may see the 3-5 HP gain from peak, but you would be seeing a much larger increase if you compare power at red line where stock system would drop but aftermarket would level off. This would keep the bike from feeling anemic at high RPM or WOT.
