Unless I'm mistaken, a bike gets salvaged by the insurance company when a claim is made and the cost of repair is more than the bike is worth. The owner can buy the bike back or the insurance company can sell the bike but in either case the bike gets the salvaged title.
Someone will only make an insurance claim after a crash or accident. I doubt bad parts from factory will cause a claim.
