Yeah, I didn't put any plate lighting on it either. But I'm sure for another couple bucks you could get a light housing to wire into the harness for the original light. My plate is right up under my tail light and at night it illuminates it great. You might check with the laws in your state to see if its required. From what I understand nobody really gets messed with about that, ususally its going 120mph that gets them pulled over.

I also know there is a light that mounts to a screw hole in the license plate that can illuminate it as well. Not sure if its wired in or runs on batteries but if your really worried that may work.

Also, and my dad used to say this to me and I thought he was an idiot but problems are really just opportunities in disguise. Get creative and figure it out on your own and you'll be much happier with it in the end. Once you get it set up you'll wonder why people pay that much for it.
